Graduate Student and Post-doctoral Training Programs – Professional Training Opportunities and Professional Seminars at AATC
AATC offers 3 levels of graduate training in the cognitive behavioral assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders and OC spectrum disorders. Our training is cognitive behavioral and focuses upon empirically derived treatments and theoretical orientations.
The introductory practicum is appropriate for graduate students who want to learn basic skills in cognitive behavioral assessment and treatment that includes cognitive therapy and exposure therapies with children, teens and adults. Students participating in this practicum will spend several months observing senior therapists during treatment sessions and gradually be encouraged to participate as a co-therapist, then solo therapist with patients. Client population served will be sliding fee patients. Both group and individual supervision will be provided. Students must have completed formal graduate coursework on descriptive psychopathology and cognitive behavioral therapies in order to be eligible for this practicum.
The advanced level practicum is appropriate for master’s level graduate students who are working on their dissertation. Client population served will be fee for service patients. It involves a two year training experience that allows the student to learn independent assessment and treatment skills with children, teens and adults. Prior experience providing cognitive behavioral interventions and working with anxiety disorders is necessary as well as completion of formal coursework on cognitive behavioral therapies, descriptive psychopathology, psychological assessment and neuropsychology.
The postdoctoral training program provides advanced opportunities for training in cognitive behavioral assessment, therapy and consultation-liason work while preparing for licensure. Client population served will be fee for service patients. Both individual and group supervision are provided. Opportunities for learning supervisory skills with graduate students and public speaking are also provided for those who are interested. Interested applicants must have graduated from an APA accredited doctoral program and internship and have received prior clinical training in cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety and OC spectrum disorders. They must also have a theoretical orientation that is cognitive behavioral.
