PAYMENT POLICIES AND FEES
The Anxiety and Agoraphobia Treatment Center is a fee for service practice. This means that all of our therapists receive full payment at the time of service. AATC staff are independent professionals who are free from any third party contracts for services. This means that we are not beholden to treatment limitations imposed by third party payers. This allows us to be able to recommend the optimal assessment and treatment strategies that clinical outcome studies and our clinical experience demonstrate will best help you or your child. Our fee for service status also means that you pay for the fair cost of the treatment you receive instead of subsidizing the cost of treatment for patients with less generous insurance contracts. It also means that patients who lack insurance do not have to pay an unfairly inflated fee to compensate for the lowered insurance payments generated by other patients.
AATC staff will give you a statement for each treatment session provided. This statement will have the necessary CPT and diagnosis codes that will allow you to submit your treatment to your insurance company should you choose to access your out of network insurance benefits. We will also complete any necessary paperwork that your insurance company provides. If a report is needed, or if extensive consultation with your insurance company is needed we will charge you our hourly fee prorated according to the amount of time required to complete the report or consultation.

We have tried to make payment of your fees simple. You may pay with cash, check, Mastercard or VISA. If you decide to pay with your credit card, your statement will maintain your confidentiality and only the initials of our practice, AATC, will show on your statement. Additionally, parents of children or teens may choose to preauthorize AATC to charge their credit card for services rendered. This allows your child or teen to attend treatment when you are unable to accompany them without you having to send in a check or credit card with your child.
Payment Of Intensive Treatment Protocols
We recognize that payment for patients undergoing intensive exposure therapy protocols may pose a financial hardship for some patients or their families. If this is true for you, you have the option of negotiating a payment plan with your therapist. The two of you will work together to decide upon a monthly amount that you will pay until your balance is paid in full.
Out Of Office Sessions, Off-Site Consultations And Travel Time
Exposure Sessions that occur outside the office are billed at the same rate as treatment that is provided inside the office. Your therapist will prorate their time and use arithmetic rounding in 5 minute increments to determine your fee. Time spent by your therapist traveling to your home or to off-site locations for exposure therapy, IEP meetings, other consultations, or time spent in after hours phone calls, will be billed in the same prorated manner. If you require extensive off-site consultations, we will attempt to match you with an AATC therapist who resides as close to you as possible, in order to minimize travel time expenses.
Medicare And Medicaid
AATC is not a covered provider for either Medicare or Medicaid. If you choose to work with our staff you will have to forego use of these benefits and pay for each treatment session on a fee for service basis. AATC will not file any claims for Medicare or Medicaid and you will not be eligible to independently file claims for the services that we provide.
Cancellations
We want you to make your treatment, or your child’s treatment, a priority in your life so that you have the best chance of recovery that is possible for you. Steady consistent practice of anxiety management skills is necessary for your, or your child’s, recovery. We ask, therefore, that you give our staff 24 hours notice of cancellation. You will be charged the full fee for your session for cancellations without 24 hours notice. Exceptions to this would be for cancellations that involve family emergencies, such as death, illness or illness of a child. Cancellations due to work or school are not considered an emergency and will be charged the full fee. Sometimes AATC staff are able to offer your cancelled session time to another patient. We will not charge you in the event that we are able to do this.
If you have further questions about payment of fees or eligibility for insurance reimbursement, please contact our office manager, Lila Huffman, at 847-559-0001, ext. 1 Please feel free to discuss these issues with the AATC therapist who returns your call.
